Human Factor XII Purified from Innovative Research has been purified from human plasma. This is a frozen liquid buffered in 4 mM Sodium Acetate-HCl/0.15 M NaCl/pH 5.3, with a concentration of 1mg/ml and a purity of greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis (no reduction when incubated with 2-mercaptoethanol).

Factor XII (Hageman Factor) is the zymogen form of Factor XIIa, and activates Factor XI and Prekallikrein. The activation of Factor XII to XIIa typically happens in the presence of polyphosphates secreted by activated platelets, marking the starting point of the Intrinsic Pathway of the coagulation cascade. In a laboratory setting, Factor XII can be used to activate a coagulation cascade.
